Parent Involvement

Parents are encouraged to consider participation on committees and be involved at school.

It is important to see the school as 'your' school. Encourage your children to see it the same way, to join in all school activities and to take pride in the buildings, the grounds and the school community as a whole.

Friends of Our Lady Star of the Sea (FoOLSS)

Friends of Our Lady Star of the Sea (FoOLSS) is an integral part of the school community. Our parents are committed to providing a caring and supportive environment for our children to learn and thrive. FoOLSS aims to provide a social network for all parents while raising much needed funds for the school. It provides support through participation in different activities and events such as:

  • Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls
  • Parent social evenings
  • Supervised student disco
  • Monthly meetings where all parents are welcome to participate and contribute
  • Scholastic Book Club
  • Family events
  • Themed lunches at the end of term

School Advisory Board

The School Advisory Board serves the needs of our school community. It is an advisory body, which provides a structure for discussion, policy support, planning formulation and implementation, and financial advice regarding our school.

Parent helpers

Parents are the first educators of their children and it is they who are the consistent influence in their lives. The teachers journey with you in supporting your child’s development by providing a safe and happy learning environment. We aim to work in partnership with you by nurturing the children’s development, by taking a genuine interest in their welfare, and by guiding, supporting and assisting their holistic development.

Teachers are always grateful for the support of parent help within the classroom. Parents are invited to participate within classroom activities as reading support, within literacy and numeracy activities or as guest speakers. Please contact the classroom teacher if you feel you have something to offer.
