Visual and Performing Arts

Through the Arts, we gain a sense of our social and individual identity. At OLSS we believe that the pursuit of the Arts plays a vital part in developing student knowledge and skills. Students benefit in many ways from the Arts: they develop increased self-esteem and self-confidence both as learners and as performers; they develop teamwork and communication skills.

At OLSS, all students participate in weekly specialist Visual Art and Performing Art lessons.

The Visual Arts Program covers the history of Art, Art appreciation and skill development in creating, making and presenting.

Performing Arts sessions encompass music, dance and drama. Students also participate in local parish community events such as the Cowes Community Christmas Carols, performances and liturgies. In 2023 we also introduced a school band and choir.
